So you don't like the www (world wide web).
Yes there are a lot of people who still dont' get it...what's all the fuss?
So, here's the deal. In the 'good ol days' when we wanted to buy something we'd go to the yellow pages and find the stores number and ring them, ask a price and see if they had the item in stock before we went to the shop (after we'd shopped around of course for the best price) and then we'd buy the product.
These days, people go online look for the item, do a review on the product specs and will generally know where the cheapest item is and if it's in stock before they leave the house because they've searched and done all the recon online. It's a different world out there and social media is just another facet of the fast changing World Wide Web.
So what's that got to do with you and your business you ask? Well if you are in a product based business, you are probably already competing with businesses who are probably already tech savvy and have not only a good website but an online store where people can look at thumbnails of products, check specs and order and pay for the item, all in the comfort of their home, probably while you are sleeping.
Scary isn't it! You have been in business for a long time. You sell quality items and you give great service.
SO WHAT. The online store just sold the item to your customer because they couldn't make it to your shop before C.O.B and they did the transaction online after they put the kids to bed.
So what do you do about it? Give it some thought, before you rush out and set up a Website that is little more than a fancy Yellow Pages advert.
